Dibandingkan ALcohol 120%, Alcohol 52% tidak mempunyai kemampuan untuk mem-burning file ke media CD/DVD, tetapi jika memang akan digunakan sebagai CD emulator, saya rasa Alcohol 52% Free Edition sudah cukup. Jika dibandingkan dengan Alcohol 52% yang komersial, Alcohol 52% Free Edition terbatas hanya dapat membuat 6 virtual drive, sedang fitur lainnya sama.

Untuk mulai membuat virtual CD drive dari CD/DVD yang Anda miliki, Anda dapat menggunakan Image Making Wizard, yang dari proses ini isi CD akan disimpan sebagai satu image file dengan format yang dapat Anda pilih, apakah Standar ISO file (.iso), Media Descriptor Image file (.mds), CloneCD Image file (.ccd), atau CDRWIN Image file (.cue). Dari file inilah nantinya akan dibuatkan virtual CD drive yang dibaca komputer seperti CD drive sebenarnya.

Selain dari image file yang dibuat dari CD/DVD, Alcohol 52% Free Edition juga dapat digunakan untuk mebaca dan mengemulasikan virtiual drive dari berbagai format image file yang sudah ada dalam komputer yangs selain format di atas juga dapat membaca beberapa format image file lain termasuk Nero.
