Opera Unite

Kemarin, Opera telah mengenalkan produk terbarunya yang saat ini masuk dalam Opera labs dengan nama Opera Unite. Opera Unite merupakan web browser yang telah dilengkapi dengan kemampuan yang menjadikan komputer penggunanya sebagai server. Dalam kemasan Opera labs release yang sudah dapat didownload dan dicoba, Opera Unite dilengkapi layanan Web Server untuk mempublikasikan web langsung dari komputer pengguna, File Sharing untuk berbagi file yang tersimpan di komputer, Fridge yang merupakan aplikasi yang memungkinan pengakses meninggalkan pesan, Media Player, Photo Sharing, dan The Lounge yang merupakan aplikasi untuk chatting. Tambahan fitur tersebut kabarnya akan menjadi bagian dari Opera 10 mendatang.

Dengan adanya layanan dalam Opera Unite tersebut, komputer yang digunakan dapat dijadikan sebagai server yaitu penyedia layanan yang dipilih untuk diaktifkan yang dapat diakses oleh pengguna internet. Contohnya, dengan mengaktifkan fitur Media Player, pengguna komputer dapat memilih direktori yang berisi file-file musik untuk kemudian dipublikasikan tanpa terlebih dulu mengupload ke server lain. Nantinya dalam pengaturan layanan ini akan mendapatkan alamat internet untuk mengaksesnya. Kemudian, pengguna seperti teman yang diberitahu alamat tersebut akan dapat mengakses dan memainkan langsung lagu-lagu yang tersedia.

Untuk setiap layanan yang akan diaktifkan, akan diberikan alamat (URL) yang digunakan agar dapat diakses dari internet. URL inilah yang nantinya dibagi atau diinformasikan kepada siapa yang dapat mengakses layanan ini. Di sini, terdapat pula pengaturan bagaimana layanan tersebut dapat diakses, apakah setiap orang langsung dapat mengaksesnya (Public), terbatas dengan cara mengeset password aksesnya (Limited), atau hanya untuk dapat diakses sendiri (Private).

Yang perlu diperhatikan adalah bahwa setiap akses yang dilakukan akan langsung dihubungkan ke komputer yang menjalankan layanan dari Opera Unite ini, sehingga agar dapat diakses maka komputer harus dalam keadaan hidup dan terkoneksi dengan internet.

Untuk dapat mengaktifkan Opera Unite, diperlukan Opera Account dimana username yang dipilih nantinya akan digunakan dalam pengalamatan layanan, seperti misalnya http://o2.freesoftware24.operaunite.com/fridge/ yang saat saya menuliskan ini saya aktifkan.

Selanjutnya silakan kirim email ke smadav@gmail.com dengan menyertakan nama Anda untuk meminta Registration Key yang berguna untuk mengaktifkan Smadav Pro. Bagi yang belum mengetahui apa itu Mozilla Prism, ini merupakan program yang dapat digunakan agar dapat mengakses website dalam jendela tersendiri, terpisah dari browser yang sedang digunakan. Hasil dari program ini adalah sebuah shortcut ke suatu website yang dapat diletakkan di desktop, Start Menu, ataupun Quick Launch. Dengan menggunakan shortcut ini, seperti membuka suatu program komputer umumnya, akan dibukakan jendela baru yang langsung membukakan website yang alamatnya sudah disetting sebelumnya.
Ketika dijalankan, Prism menggunakan session yang terpisah untuk tiap-tiap jendela website yang dibuka. Dengan kondisi ini akan memungkinkan misalnya mengakses dua jendela Gmail dengan account yang berbeda.

Jika nantinya Anda sudah tidak memerlukan akses cepat ke suatu website, Anda cukup menghapus shortcutnya saja. Penggunaan Mozilla Prism ini mungkin akan cocok untuk mengakses website-website yang sering Anda buka.

Panda USB Vaccine is a free utility from Panda Security Research which helps prevent malware infections due to the autorun feature of Windows Operating Systems. Once executed the user can choose two types of vaccinations: Computer Vaccination or USB Drive Vaccination. USB Vaccine allows users to vaccinate their PCs in order to disable autorun completely so that no program from any USB/CD/DVD drive (regardless of whether they have been previously vaccinated or not) can auto-execute. This is a really helpful feature as there is no user friendly and easy way of completely disabling autorun on a Windows PC. Panda USB Vaccine can be used on individual USB drives to disable its autorun.inf file in order to prevent malware infections from spreading automatically.

When applied on a USB drive, the vaccine permanently blocks an innocuous autorun.inf file, preventing it from being read, created, deleted or modified. Once applied it effectively disables Windows from automatically executing any malicious file that might be stored in that particular USB drive. The drive can otherwise be used normally and files (even malware) copied to/from it, but they will be prevented from opening automatically. Panda USB Vaccine currently only works on FAT & FAT32 USB drives. Also keep in mind that USB drives that have been vaccinated cannot be reversed.
